Research

We are a group of international researchers interested in understanding how innovation happens in technology-intensive environments.

Research

We look at innovation with critical eyes: we are aware not everyone benefit equally from it, at least in the short term. We are interested in understanding why, when and how tensions arise between, for example, stability and change, short and long term objectives or, more generally, when the pursuit of business objectives conflicts with the greater needs of society. We investigate how these tensions can be solved. Our research can be grouped under three broad areas: Technology Systems and Strategy (TESS), Cognition Learning and Adaptive Behavior (COLAB) and Social Innovation and Hybrids (COOPERATIVES). Please find more information on each of the links.

In our research, we aim at being transparent, disciplined, relevant and rigorous. Our teaching builds very closely on our research and our work with industry is evidence-based. We have set up the Spark Labs as an in-house units to support our teaching. We are involved in both MSc and continuing education. Our research has also contributed to the generation of two startups. In doing our research, we collaborate with a broad range of organizations in different continents for example universities around the globe, local hospitals, big engineering multinationals, small NGOs. Please find more information under collaborators.
