New Book on Open Innovation
Check out the new book on Open Innovation, especially “Chapter 37 - Leadership Skills for Open Innovation”, co-written by Daniella Laureiro Martinez and Stefano Brusoni. The chapter focuses on a crucial but under explored topic in Open Innovation: The role of leaders, and leadership, in navigating the complex terrain of internal and external idea integration.
Evolutionary Dynamics of the AI Ecosystem
One of the most downloaded papers at Strategy Science this week is The Evolutionary Dynamics of the Artificial Intelligence Ecosystem by Michael G. Jacobides, Stefano Brusoni, and François Candelon. The authors study how AI developers, manufacturers, and users intertwine and find Big Tech firms dominate downstream, upstream and in research. China, US and EU each promote a distinct ecosystem structure, and AI is seen to accentuate profit and firm size inequalities.

eXciting News: emba X3 Cohort of the EMBA ETH Zurich + University of St.Gallen embarks on their learning journey! Last week, Stefano Brusoni, the co-academic director, along with Ana Procopio Schön, Head of Learning, warmly welcomed the students. The inaugural week was packed with enriching experiences, first Leadership Skills Labs including an immersive visit to Solidaritätshaus and an engaging SDG game. We wish emba X3 a stellar start as they navigate the pathways of knowledge and growth.

Swiss Armed Forces Graduation Ceremony
Some of the members of the TIM Group had the opportunity to participate in the graduation ceremony of the Swiss Armed Forces' Tank & Artillery Officer school. The memebrs played a crucial role in conducting an experimental training program, focusing on enhancing the cognitive flexibility of the officer cadets over the past four months. Congratulations to all the new lieutenants!
DRUID Conference
The DRUID conference held at Nova School of Business and Economics in Carcavelos, Portugal offered a wide range of insights and networking opportunities for professionals from various fields. Sebastian Niederberger presented an experimental study that involved over 3500 participants. Axel Zeijen presented his paper on the transformative influence of streaming in the music industry. We are grateful to the organizers and all attendees who organised the DRUID conference.
